Immune Booster TONIQ recipe
We are getting stronger physically now let’s work on strengthening our internal systems!
Winter is (sadly) coming, but prevention is better than cure and so in a bid to get our immune systems in top shape we have created this delicious smoothie recipe.
It is no secret that Vitamin C is key when it comes to boosting the immune system so there will be no surprises that this is a hero nutrient in our blend. We have used the following ingredients for their healthy super powers:
1 orange has 120 percent of the recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C. Vitamin C promotes the production of white blood cells which are responsible for attacking foreign bacteria and viruses. Oranges are also known to prevent premature aging.
Spinach is high in Vitamin C as well as being packed with antioxidants which are regarded as a key defence for your cells against disease.
Kiwi fruit are packed full of Vitamin C, antioxidants and have also been credited with their ability to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system.
Blackberrys are not only an immune booster with their Vitamin C content and antioxidant properties but they have also been known to aid weight loss!
Ginger has been used for years to reduce inflammation, one of the main causes of a sore throat, and usually the first symptom of a brewing cold.
Ingredients (makes 1 smoothie)
1 kiwi fruit
1 handful of blackberries
½ tsp fresh grated ginger
1 handful of fresh spinach
- Peel the orange (keep the pith!), and cut into segments
- Peel the kiwi and slice
- Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth
- Serve and enjoy immediately
Prep enough ingredients for multiple smoothies and freeze them in individual smoothie portion packs,, this not only makes it quicker and easier for the future but also allows you to keep the ingredients for longer. Also, using frozen fruit helps to make a creamier smoothie!
