Meet the Founders

TONIQ’s FOUNDERS, ARRON & HETTY — THEIR HISTORY AND MISSION

At TONIQ, we believe that training should feel purposeful, empowering, and grounded in real-life results. It’s more than just workouts, it’s about building a community where people move better, feel stronger, and show up fully. As founders, we (Arron & Hetty) want to share a bit more about who we are, where we’ve come from, and what drives us to do what we do every day.

My Journey – Arron, Founder of TONIQ and Qigong with Arron

I’ve been a wellness coach for over 20 years now. It all started with personal training and sports massage therapy. I quickly found that I loved working with people and helping them understand their bodies not just physically, but emotionally and energetically too.

After five years of coaching, I became drawn to something deeper. That’s when I discovered Chinese medicine, its approach to healing and balance made complete sense to me. I began to study it, alongside tui na (acupressure massage), and eventually found my way to Qigong. A practice that became the foundation of everything I now do.

For nine years, I ran the gym at Babington House, working closely with high-net-worth and high-performance clients. Those years were powerful, not just for the experience, but because I started to host retreats and workshops around the UK and abroad. That’s when I saw just how transformative this work could be in the right setting.

In 2016, I opened my first personal training studio in Bath, working out of the Apthorp Centre a chiropractic clinic. Here, I partnered with therapists to help clients recover from injury, move better, and stay injury-free. It was a perfect blend of clinical rehab and functional movement, and it really shaped my approach to training.

Then came TONIQ. In 2018, I launched the first space on Green Park with one mission: to bring together everything I’d learned over the years, from strength and conditioning to breathwork, Qigong, recovery, and community all under one roof.

TONIQ is your health elixir, just the right amount of what you need to stay strong, calm, and balanced. The ‘Q’ stands for Qi energy and that’s the core of what we do.

During lockdown, I founded Ice Breakers with a close friend, a free men’s group to support mental health and brotherhood when people needed it most. What started as a small gathering has now grown into four chapters across the UK. We’ve helped countless men reconnect, talk, and grow and we’re only just getting started.

Today, I continue to coach, combining Qigong, functional strength, breathwork, and recovery practices. I believe in training hard, recovering well, and staying open to new ways of moving and living. From ride classes to cold plunges, my goal is to help people find their own rhythm and live the TONIQ life.

“As the OG founder of TONIQ, I’m all about balance.  As well as working proper hard, I encourage people to recover well and try new things. See you in the ice baths!”

“Movement is medicine, you need to move your body every day. It doesn’t need to be touch, you just need to move”

My Journey – Hetty, Co- Founder of TONIQ George Street and @sweatwithhet

I first came to Bath at 16, playing full-time tennis on the world tour. When I wasn’t travelling for tournaments, the University of Bath was my training base, it's where I spent countless hours developing both on and off the court.

Later, I was offered a place to study Sports Performance at the university, which gave me the perfect opportunity to continue competing while working towards a degree. By the end of my studies, I was inspired to complete a personal training qualification. This came from the impact that fitness coaches had on me throughout my tennis career , the best ones didn’t just improve my game, they shaped my mindset, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing. That experience made me want to give the same feeling back to others.

From there, I began coaching tennis at the University of Bath, both in strength & conditioning and on-court roles. It was a great way to stay close to the sport I love while helping athletes reach their own potential.

In 2017, I met Arron while he was launching TONIQ Green Park. I started leading a few sweat classes alongside my tennis commitments. Then in 2020, I made the decision to step away from tennis and go all in on fitness. I trained clients all over Bath before launching my own space GetFit in Bath.

Arron and I always had our eyes on something bigger. So when he found the Moles location and asked if I wanted to team up, I didn’t hesitate. And here we are building what we believe will be the best health club in Bath.

“Choose workouts and habits you genuinely enjoy, and focus on building a strong foundation that will keep you moving forward with confidence and resilience.”

What We’re Building Together

TONIQ has always been about more than just movement. It’s about community, consistency, and care. We believe that the team we have built reflects just that.

Together, we’re combining decades of experience, different coaching styles, and a shared vision to build something special: a new kind of health club in Bath. We share a vision for intelligent training, honest coaching, and building a community that feels like home. We’ve built TONIQ into more than just a gym it’s a place where people grow, recover and thrive.

Whether you’ve been part of the journey from day one or you’ve just joined us, we’re so glad you’re here. And we can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.
